About Jacob Hilmes

As the Manager of Battery Planning at Volkswagen Chattanooga Operations, I lead a team of specialists who are responsible for the equipment additions and major modifications of the battery assembly, housing, and pre-assembly lines. I have 9.5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, CAD, electrical design and troubleshooting, and automotive assembly. My core competencies include project equipment planning, budget tracking, manpower planning and recruiting, specifications, design review, and production buyoff. I also coordinate with other departments, such as logistics, quality, IT, R&D, production, and maintenance, to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the battery plant. In addition, I have completed a leadership course and assessment, and received technical recognition from Honda for designing, assembling, testing, and implementing a complete robotic automation cell. My mission is to contribute to the innovation and sustainability of Volkswagen's battery products and processes, and to empower my team to deliver high-quality and safe solutions.
