I am a seasoned web and software team leader, engineer, and innovator. I’m experienced in high traffic (1b+ requests/day) APIs, k8s, 12 factor apps, web applications, Object Oriented Design, functional programming, database systems, workflow optimization, hybrid cloud/bare metal infrastructures, and application design.I am a polyglot, both in engineering and in spoken human language; I have deep experience in Go, Kotlin, Scala, C++, relational and non-relational databases, Java, Spring, a healthy dabbling of Python, Ruby, C, and a speaking proficiency in German. Real-world experience has shown me I provide following values as a team member- I can be a generalist or a specialist-both hats fit well. Programming language proficiency matters much less than flexibility and a willingness to learn and teach. But sometimes domain-specific knowledge can also save the day, especially in a leadership position- I am more comfortable leading than following- I don’t care about "credit,"​ just what is best for the team and the product- I like finding and fixing problems. Troubleshooting should be called awesomeshooting (or maybe troubleawesome?)- I love optimization and efficiency.
