About Jacob Johnston

With over a decade of experience as a professor, I have had the privilege of teaching communications, media, screenwriting, and film at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. My passion lies in helping students unlock their creative potential while mastering the craft of storytelling. In addition to my academic work, I am the host and writer of the award-winning Main Street Music Show, where I explore the powerful intersection of music and storytelling. My love for filmmaking has driven me to direct two feature films and numerous short films, many of which have been recognized at various film festivals. Prior to my work in academia and film, I spent eight years in sports broadcasting, serving as on-air talent, play-by-play commentator, and reporter for Division I schools and conferences. This experience sharpened my ability to tell compelling stories in real time, covering everything from game highlights to in-depth athlete profiles. Whether behind the mic, in the director’s chair, or in the classroom, my career has been dedicated to storytelling in all its forms.
