My fascination with life and health science is equally divided between the biology itself and the prospect of ultimately making a difference for people and patients. I have a passion for innovation, understanding the specific needs that a medical intervention needs to solve in collaboration with stakeholders, and how that intervention can be designed & improved for the purpose. Innovation fellow, BioInnovation Institute, Copenhagen At BII I was part of a new initiative in science strategy and responsible for assessment of technologies in the cell & gene therapy space. PhD student at University of Copenhagen During my PhD I worked on characterizing pre-malignant stages of colorectal cancer (adenomas) on a molecular level. The aim was to increase our understanding of these commonly occurring polyps such that resources in the health care system can be moved to those truly at risk. Ideally, this will reduce societal costs associated with the large screening effort, reduce the burden on health care personnel and the incidence and mortality of the disease. Danish Cancer Society, Master Student My master project at the Danish Cancer Society was centered on the CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing technology. It resulted in the generation of dual-fluorescent mouse cancer cells as well as knock-out murine and human breast cancer cell lines.
