Performer and educator, Jacob Means, enjoys experimenting with new sounds while maintaining a relationship with traditional forms of American Folk music. His sensitive, intuitive, and precise playing creates a welcoming aural space for collaborators and audiences to experience the unknown. Jacob’s music ranges from deeply poignant to whimsically playful while reflecting a sense of space inspired by the great Rocky Mountains and clear skies of Wyoming where he grew up. Jacob began his musical journey playing the mandolin, which has led him around the world. From performing and teaching across the U.S, Central America, Europe, and China, his versatility as a musician has enabled him to create meaningful connections in diverse and varied settings. Jacob also has experience creating connections between artists and their global communities through booking tours, curating live performances, radio promotion, and creative problem solving using cross-cultural exchange to bring people closer together. These experiences have solidified his view of art as an inclusive tool for positive social change.
