About Jacob Morgan

I am an Associate Consultant: Ports and Marine Engineer at WSP USA working in Tacoma and Seattle. Through the use of fundamental structural engineering principles and state-of-the-art computational tools and AI, I strive to bring the highest quality and efficiency to the projects I am working on. I have passed my PE Civil: Structural exam and I am still accruing the experience needed to apply for professional licensure. I graduated MIT with a Master of Engineering in Civil and Environmental Engineering on the Structural Mechanics and Design track in May 2024 and I graduated Rice University in May 2023 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, focusing on structures and mechanics, and Rice’s Certificate in Engineering Leadership. Through my previous work experience in civil and structural engineering and my roles in several interdisciplinary design and research projects, I have had the opportunity to develop solutions for several different, challenging problems and work in teams of a variety of sizes and disciplines. I have accrued an extensive toolbox of technical skills along the way, including experience coding in Python and MATLAB; using modeling software like Revit, MicroStation, AutoCAD, and SketchUp; structural analysis software like Tekla TEDDS, RISA 3D, and and workplace productivity software like Office 365 and Google Suite. Engineering is a people-driven profession, and I’m eager to contribute my leadership, communication, time management, attention to detail, and technical skills to any team I’m working on, regardless of discipline.
