About Jacob Philbrook

Jacob Philbrook is an Information Technology professional and perpetual student with a passion for travel, development, problem-solving, and discovery. Starting with a keen interest in CompuServe before kindergarten, Jacob has been engaged in a continuous process of absorbing knowledge and developing skills related to computers, networking, databases, and the internet. Right out of high school he entered employment with Global Volunteers, a nonprofit international development organization, in an Information Technology support role. For the last 15 years he has applied his knowledge and skills to solving problems and developing solutions for the organization, advancing from support technician to network administrator. In that time Jacob has distinguished himself by accepting more responsibility and tackling bigger and more complex projects. He was responsible for planning and deploying the technology resources at a new satellite office. He took on the project manager role in a complex, and successful, migration of the organization’s CRM to the cloud. Most recently he completed the design and installation of an electronic health record system for a clinic in rural Tanzania. Realizing that the path of career advancement ran through higher education, Jacob began his undergraduate studies in 2014. In 2018 he earned a BS in Business Analytics and Information Systems from the University of South Florida. Not content with only one degree, he is currently enrolled in the Master of Business Administration program at USF’s acclaimed Muma College of Business. Upon completion of his graduate program, Jacob intends to return to Global Volunteers to pursue a leadership role in the organization.
