About Jacob Roberts

My primary aim is to facilitate the rejuvenation of the marine environment within my lifetime: the restoration of the diversity of marine life and the natural checks and balances that lead to a healthy and resilient ecosystem. The issues facing our most important life support system are wicked and complex, from plastic waste, nutrient loading, and overfishing, to climate change and ocean acidification. I believe these issues are addressable if we are willing to rethink and redesign the fundamental relationship between society and the environment and work to develop a more sustainable operating system for humanity. I approach these issues primarily through the lens of sustainable urban development, clean tech, and the private sector, and view infrastructure as a key lever to achieve more sustainable results without requiring significant behavioral change and while improving people's quality of life. I view it as a way to make it easier for people to do no harm while lowering the barrier of resistance to change.
