About Jacob Saunders
I am a graduate of the Master of Applied Science (MASc) in Engineering Physics program from McMaster University. My research involved the use of ultrafast fiber and bulk lasers for additive manufacturing, micro-machining, and surface modification. Consequently, I have expertise in optical systems and alignment, and laser-material interactions. My interests are in the development of new optics and photonics technologies, such as lasers and other light sources, and imaging systems (EO/IR). I am also interested in fiber optic communications and additive manufacturing technologies such as selective laser melting. In my spare time I coach at the McMaster varsity fencing team, and enjoy a variety of sports and hobbies such as camping and hiking, soccer, and bass guitar.
