About Jacob Sides

I am Jacob Sides, a full-stack web engineer with nearly a decade of experience in building websites, apps, and products. My professional journey truly began in 2018 when I won Knoxville's hackathon, KnxHx, leading to a job offer at Pyxl. At Pyxl, I rapidly developed my skills at a professional level, despite still being a junior in college. I worked with multiple clients, honing my front-end expertise to the point where I became the lead developer on several projects by the time I graduated and secured a full-time role. Seeking to broaden my horizons, I transitioned to a more corporate environment at DRC to gain experience in industrial-grade software engineering. There, I collaborated with skilled engineers and architects, working on mission-critical products, including government contracts, across various technology stacks. It was at this time where I was introduced to a well-orchestrated AWS infrastructure, which has played a huge role in a product of one of my freelance clients, MergerAI. Through these experiences, I discovered my true passion lies in front-end development and collaborating with designers. I am continuously seeking ways to enhance my skills. The ever-evolving capabilities of modern browsers inspire me to push the boundaries of what's possible in web development and I can’t wait to see what’s possible in the near-future.
