About Jacob Silverman

For more than 15 years, I've been a freelance journalist writing about the intersections of technology, culture, politics, and media. I have written for the New York Times, Slate, the Los Angeles Times, Bookforum, The Washington Post, Politico, and many others, covering topics ranging from social media and surveillance to cryptocurrency and fraud. I am also the author and co-author of two books that explore the impact of the digital revolution on our economy, society, and democracy. My first book,"Terms of Service: Social Media and the Price of Constant Connection"(HarperCollins, 2015), examines the hidden costs and surveillance culture of social media. My second book,"Easy Money: Cryptocurrency, Casino Capitalism, and the Golden Age of Fraud"(Abrams, 2023), co-written with the actor Ben McKenzie, exposes the dark underbelly of the crypto craze. I regularly speak for public audience and enjoy appearing on TV, radio, podcasts, and other forms of media yet to be invented.
