About Jacob Torres

Philosophy Being that my mission in life is to be the best physical educator and coach that I can possibly be, I believe that using sport during physical education is essential. Whether it be structured, competitive sport or recreational, sports are a great way to promote the social and physical well being of all students, inside and outside of the classroom for life. While not every student will be an athlete, using sports allows for maximum participation and inclusion. With a true team, every student has a pivotal role to fulfill. As a physical educator, I will expose all students to a diverse range of sports and not rely on the narrow spectrum that has stereotyped past and current physical educators. Behavior management philosophy As an educator I believe in running a well structured classroom with clear and high expectations for all students. I believe having a having a refined, structured classroom can eliminate most disruptions and behavioral problems. I also believe that in order to discipline or manage behavior, the behavior must first be understood. A part of becoming the best educator I can be, is the building of the relationships I will have with my students. These positive, constructive relationships, a structured classroom, along with school and district policies will form the basis of my behavior management.
