About Jacob Wick

I am a currently a Senior at the University of Indiana majoring in accounting and business analytics in the Kelley School of Business. Ever since I was young, I have always wanted to follow in my mom’s footsteps of business after watching the work she did when I would visit her accounting office. Throughout my academic career, I have often wondered where I will end up in life but I now have a strong understanding of what awaits my future. My academic goals are to end up somewhere in the business field where I can work with others and utilize numbers throughout the day. A lot of the experience I have gained in my life comes from the part time jobs I've worked over the past couple years. I spent three years working as a soccer referee, which taught me to have confidence in the decisions I make. I gained a lot of grit throughout this experience by dealing with angry parents and having to trust my gut with the decisions I made. I also gained experience from spending a large sum of time at my mom's accounting office where I learned how to complete bank recs, utilize Yardi and other financial platforms related to Excel. Being in this environment 2-3 times a week taught me how to communicate in a professional manner with adults which is a crucial skill that can guide me in the business world. Through the experiences that I have been a part of throughout my life, I have developed a deep passion towards pursuing my education to its best potential. My personal strengths revolve around innovation and perseverance as these are the two traits I believe will truly help me to make an impact in this world. I plan to utilize these attributes to land a successful job in the work force and to develop networking connections that will last for life.
