About Jacobus Smit

With over two decades of experience in the IT industry, I have a proven track record of working with customers and their environments. I am well-versed in the use of Windows Server (NT4 to 2019) and Windows Desktop OS (Dos to Windows 11), as well as all the major Office versions on these platforms. I have also administered and supported technologies such as Hyper-V, Exchange Server, Office 365, Remote Desktop Servers, Active Directory, Veeam Backup and Replication, Symantec Backup Exec, and various MSP platforms, antivirus software and more. Furthermore, I am experienced in scripting and automation. In terms of hardware support, I am experienced in supporting Dell, HP, Lenovo, PCs, Laptops, Thin Clients, Printers, and Tablets. Additionally, I am experienced in supporting Android peripherals and some Mac OS and peripherals. I am also Mikrotik MTCNA certified. I have a diverse background having worked in various industries including IT, banking, medical, commercial, legal, retail, manufacturing, and warehousing. I am dedicated to continuous learning and want to study and become experienced in ITIL and documentation technologies. I am also interested in clusters, edge computing and automation. Upcoming technologies like Docker & Kubernetes is quite an attraction to me and I have started taking a course to get to know it better. I have also lined up basic programming, scripting and Azure/Cloud fundamentals to complete once I am done with the first two. I would also like to renew my A+/N+ from 1997.
