About Jacquelyn Cranney

Giving Psychology Away Through Education: My current professional work emanates from my decade+ interest in psychological literacy (the capacity to apply psychology to achieve personal, work, and community goals). See – particularly the literature page – for work in that area. One of the primary ways in which psychology can be given away (George Miller,1969) is through developing psychological literacy in undergraduate foundational psychology, and since 2008, this has been my focus. The most recent development is my co-leadership, with Susan A. Nolan of Seton Hall University, of the International Collaboration on Undergraduate Psychology Outcomes project (see icupo.org for listings of project members and outputs such as publications and conference presentations). The project members, over100 psychology education leaders from over 40 countries, contributed to the development of the International Competences for Undergraduate Psychology (ICUP) Model (https://osf.io/6vz8s). Another aspect of my focus on ‘giving psychology away’ has been research, policy and practice regarding curricular approaches to student self-management, academic success and wellbeing – see I am also interested in the intersections amongst indigenous psychologies, human-ecosystem interactions, climate change mitigation, evolutionary psychology, and education.
