About Jacquelyn Toth

I am happy to be providing both in-person therapy in my Santa Barbara office and online therapy to all residents of California. In 2008, I moved to California from Cleveland, Ohio to pursue my Masters in Counseling Psychology with an Emphasis in Depth Psychology. Before leaving my home city, I spent almost two decades working with community mental health agencies in roles that included both direct work with clients and administrative and management positions. I feel utterly grateful for the agencies and supervisors that guided me and shared their wisdom with me since the beginning of my career, which started right after college. Most formative were my years spent as a crisis intervention and psychological intake volunteer at The Free Clinic of Greater Cleveland. I am proud to have spent 8 years as a member of their stellar community. My calling to pursue depth psychology led me to Pacifica. Depth psychotherapy widens the frame of a person’s story to include what is relevant from the past, present, and imagined future. It also pays attention to not only what is seen and heard, but what is alive in the deep sea of the unconscious, which holds valuable resources for healing and managing life. I work with clients to gently explore the unconscious through the development of a strong therapeutic relationship where the client’s unique story is allowed to emerge at its own pace. My additional training and experience in Yoga Therapy, Career Counseling, DBT, and community mental health is enhanced with depth-oriented tools like dream work, stories, art, and body awareness to explore connections between physical and emotional symptoms and to re-align the relationship clients have with wounded pieces of themselves. I also have an extensive background in academia and currently serve as an adjunct faculty member at Pacifica and Antioch University Santa Barbara. I am an editor specializing in scholarly articles, theses, and dissertations, as well as psychologically-based website content. I enjoy short-form and memoir writing and find solace in the mountains and beaches that I am fortunate to have so nearby.
