Background

About Jacques Horn

I am Jacques Horn, a Geoscientist with a wealth of experience across the mining value chain, from exploration to resource estimation, enabling me to bring projects to fruition and impart a positive impact on the people and communities that I engage with. I started my education at the University of Stellenbosch where I earned a B.Sc in Geology, followed by a B.Sc (Hons) with a focus on Structural Geology. I enrolled in a short course in Project Management at Wits, which I passed Cum Laude. As a committed lifelong learner, I attend various courses to further my professional development, and registered with SACNASP as a Professional Natural Scientist. Structural geology informs mineralization and forms the basis of all resource modelling/estimations and mining valuations. With over 15 years of experience across the mining value chain, different commodities, and geographies, I am uniquely positioned to successfully plan, implement, and execute projects from exploration to operations. The success of projects depends on a deep understanding of the value drivers in the mining industry. I am a believer in The Theory of Constraints to deliver excellent performance throughout the exploration/mining value chain. I am honest, strive to live with the utmost integrity, believe in good communication, and freely share my knowledge among my work colleagues. I am also very flexible and willing to learn. My ability to foster trust and respect within diverse multi-disciplinary teams through open two-way communication, drive to impart knowledge, and empower individuals, creates high-functioning teams where people feel appreciated, make a difference, and have an opportunity to grow in their roles. A technology and innovation-driven visionary, with a wide view of the mining value chain and a multi-disciplinary approach means I have a cross-functional and lateral view in finding and crafting solutions that align with company objectives. Being a willing learner also helps me in fostering relationships across multiple disciplines and connecting with like-minded individuals and companies that strive for excellence within their specific domains and compliment my arsenal. An innovative, future-oriented individual, with a holistic approach and human touch, I am dedicated to providing collaborative, sustainable, value-driven solutions within the mining sphere.
