About Jacqui Young

Jacqui has extensive experience in clinical, education, management & research roles. The majority of her clinical experience has been in the critical care areas. In the early 1990’s Jacqui commenced working with new graduate nurses as a clinical educator. Since that time she has worked as a clinical facilitator with undergraduate students, a clinical educator for coronary/intensive care in a Saudi Arabian hospital, a new graduate program coordinator and a nurse re-entry program coordinator. Over the years, she has developed an enthusiasm for teaching which led to a position with UQ in 2004 as a Lecturer with the Bachelor of Nursing program. In 2007 she moved to postgraduate education and coordinated the curriculum writing and management of the Graduate Certificate in Nursing (General Practice). In 2010 she became the coordinator for the postgraduate Primary Health Care Nursing courses and in 2011 she also coordinated the postgraduate Rural & Remote Nursing courses. In 2013 she commenced as the Program Lead for the Master of Nursing (graduate entry) successfully coordinating accreditation of the program with ANMAC in her 2nd year in the role. Jacqui’s interest in general practice nursing was sparked in 2004 when she worked for the Australian Practice Nurses Association as their education coordinator. In 2007 she took up an Australian Research Council funded scholarship to commence her PhD on a project titled - The feasibility, acceptability and cost-effectiveness of nurse-led models of chronic disease management in general practice. In 2017 Jacqui commenced as a senior lecturer at the Australian Catholic University, Brisbane campus as the Course Coordinator for the Bachelor of Nursing and associated programs. In 2020 Jacqui commenced in the role of Deputy National Course Coordinator in conjunction with her campus course coordinator role. In January 2022 Jacqui took on the role of National Course Coordinator responsible for the implementation of the Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Paramedicine, Bachelor of Nursing/Enrolled Nurses & Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Business Administration across six campuses. Jacqui now shares the role of Deputy Head of School on the Brisbane Campus.
