Jacquin Buchanan: Visionary Technologist, Entrepreneur, and Compassionate Leader As a Director of Software Engineering, I excel in building world-class teams that deliver innovative products on time and within budget. I believe in the power of inclusiveness, diversity, and a growth mindset, which are fundamental to achieving quick and effective results. My Approach: I love making things. I could be an architect, or engineer in any field, but the laws of physics limit bridges and other physical structures. Software, however, has infinite possibilities and no such limitations. I find inspiration in my team's enthusiasm. Their growth and desire to improve fuel my commitment to supporting them. I am deeply invested in the mission of the products we develop and the methodologies we use. Key Achievements I designed, architected, developed initial versions, and then built out teams for full software development life cycles (SDLC) in each of these products: • Innovative Prosthetics: Real-time collaborative CAD software to bring modern prosthetics to underserved parts of the world. • Speech Translation Technology: The first handheld, free-form speech-to-speech natural language translation platform, now used by the US military. • Acoustic Integration Model (AIM): Designed and implemented a groundbreaking architecture for AIM, transforming how industry and government address the effects of underwater sound on marine mammals. • Non-linear Digital Video Editing: Visionary founder of In Sync Corporation, creators of Speed Razor, a revolutionary non-linear digital video editing application. Beyond Tech: Outside of my professional endeavors, I am a father and a monk in the Vietnamese Buddhist Forest Tradition. I co-founded Xa Loi Temple in Frederick, Maryland, where I continue to integrate mindfulness and compassion into every aspect of my life.
