About Jade Bonus

I am an experienced and certified Media Studies / Secondary English Language and Literature teacher based in Tokyo. With expertise in navigating the international school environment, I have had success designing and teaching classes to standards in the IB PYP and MYP programs, as well as the IGCSE. I have particular expertise in the formative development of adolescents' critical thinking and language skills. My teaching style is student-centred, using a range of methods to cater to the diverse learning styles in each classroom. Outside of the school context I have a TEFL qualifiction and extensive experience tutoring ESL learners from early elementary age students through to adult hobbyists. My aim is to empower all students in pursuit of their goals in English. As a second career teacher I also have a plethora of experience in the media and publishing industries as an editor. This experience honed my communication and problem-solving skills as well as fueled my passion for language. Despite changing careers, my interest in print and publishing remains, and I have used my experience to lead extra-curricular activities to enrich student skills in production and graphic design. As such, I have been upskilling in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop as well Microsoft Publisher.
