About Jade Ritchie Annand

High-minded yet practical and empirical software architect and developer, nudging over 20 years in the industry, experience in algorithms, forms, databases, graphing, CAI engines and tools, threading techniques, bringing applications to the web and creating robust foundational componentry.Goals in professional life include:* Helping people and projects anticipate problems and finding practical and elegant solutions wherever possible. but the best battlefield code surgery when they're in a bind.* Reducing technical debt - the hidden measure of poor quality behind the scenes causing instability and development bottlenecks* Finding big performance wins - as Richard Campbell would say,"Performance is like air. No one cares about it until there isn’t any."Specialties: Object-oriented design, debugging, architecting for genericity/engines/systems, slow "live" migration to better architectures, mentoring, cross-fertilization, Java, C#, Delphi, OutSystems, AJAX, unit testing, tackling just about any development environment around. How dry; I know!I enjoy the challenges inherent in this line of work. It's a great medium for problem solving, for grasping ideas and turning them into something real.I'm no daredevil in real life, but I find myself on not infrequent occasions encountering a bit of disbelief that some problem is tractable, and I feel myself holding my hands out to the side and saying "watch this", with the stuntperson's surety that I will land on the other side, as it were.So many breakthroughs come from "there really ought to be a way.".I love working with other people; it helps me cut down the possibilities and feels as though it lets me fire on even more cylinders than usual.I also love investigating rather than pre-judging. If you find something I don't like; it's probably actually treated me badly :)
