About Jade Shelp

I am a second-year Master’s student in the Neuroscience program at Western University with a interest in uncovering the mechanisms of human cognition and neurological disorders. My current research examines how emotional salience shapes spatial perception, with applications in identifying trait differences in emotional processing and informing training practices for high-stakes professions such as first responders, aviation, and the military. This work reflects my broader goal of advancing our understanding of the brain and translating insights into real-world applications. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences from Queen’s University, where I built a strong foundation in sciences and gained leadership and research experience through academic, extracurricular, and team-based roles. Looking ahead, I am eager to apply my neuroscience expertise to real-world challenges in healthcare, clinical research, or the pharmaceutical industry. I thrive in collaborative environments, enjoy problem-solving, and am motivated by opportunities that connect scientific discovery with meaningful impact.
