About Jaelen Pearson

I recently graduated from the University of California, Davis with a major in Civil Engineering. During my undergraduate studies, I took coursework that encompassed all aspects of civil, with a focus on structural and environmental engineering. I am continuing my education in the UC Davis graduate program for Civil Engineering with a focus in structural engineering. I have experience interning for a civil engineering transportation company that focused on roadway design. In this position, I gained valuable skills editing and drafting planning sheets using MicroStation. I also had the opportunity to prepare exhibits which illustrated the various aspects of a project to clients, as well as perform quantity checks on projects. While interning for an organization that focused on clean air technology, I was able to obtain experience with project management in the processing of the company's product to vendors. This experience gave me a clearer understanding of budgeting and control of services. One of the most important lessons that I have learned from internships is that there can be a significant difference in what is used in class versus what is used in the field. I want to continue expanding my knowledge so that I will be well-rounded with my studies and valuable hands-on experience.
