About Jaffus Hardrick

Dr. Jaffus Hardrick is a visionary and transformational leader with twenty years of higher education experience in human resources, academic affairs, student services, diversity and community relations. As Vice President for the Division of Human Resources at Florida International University (FIU), he provides strategic and innovative leadership for the university and to the sixteen departments within the Division. In his role as a senior administrator, he is responsible for promoting student success, providing strategic direction, designing University policy, promoting shared governance, cultivating donor relations, and developing community relations for one of the nation’s twenty-five largest universities. Dr. Hardrick designs and executes programs to develop, inspire, and engage a workforce of more than 9,500 faculty and staff. Prior to joining FIU, Dr. Hardrick worked at Baylor University as Assistant Vice President of Human Resources and Assistant Provost. As Assistant Provost, his responsibilities included academic affairs operations, university governance, academic policy development, faculty promotions, faculty relations, recruitment and retention of faculty, faculty grievances and diversity initiatives. As founding director of Baylor’s Human Relations Office, he developed and implemented programs and support services for minority students, faculty, staff, and the community. Dr. Hardrick assisted the Division of Student Affairs with student recruitment and other student success programs. He mentored many students and served as an advisor for several student organizations. Dr. Hardrick also served as an adjunct faculty where he taught graduate and undergraduate courses.
