About Jaida Beaudin
Jaida is a Mi'kmaw and Néhiyaw born and raised in Treaty 4 Territory (Regina, Saskatchewan). She is from Membertou First Nation and was raised in the prairies. She enjoys the news, politics, mental health initiatives, urban Indigenous youth outreach and engagement, community and nature, and spending time with her two Italian greyhounds. Leaving University with a Political Science degree and Indigenous Communication of Arts diploma, Jaida went on to fellowship with the Institute for Investigative Journalism (IIJ) at Concordia University, where she investigated First Nation's water inequities -Revealing significant gaps in policy and funding. After finishing her fellowships with the IIJ, Jaida became a policy analyst and public relations intern for the File Hills Qu'Appelle Tribal Council, working in the Tribal Chief's Office. Once she completed her time at the tribal council, Jaida went to FSIN, working in the Women's Secretariat as a Health Researcher/ Analyst While at the Women's Secretariat, Jaida helped with press releases, research, community engagement, and policy. This role was split between FSIN and the University of Saskatchewan College of Medicine. Jaida joined the University of Saskatchewan College of Medicine under the Office Chair in Indigenous Health and Wellness. She worked as a grant coordinator for the waniska Indigenous Research Centre on HIV/HCV/STBBI inequities, hoping to engage with the community in new and innovative ways that respect Indigenous protocol. Jaida now works as the Communications Officer and Public Relations to Muscowpetung Saulteaux Nation for Chief Melissa Anaquod-Tavita, working with the executive team and supporting the Chief and Council.
