About Jaime Castillo

I’m a Ph.D. candidate and financial industry professional with a strong track record in academic excellence and leadership. During my undergraduate studies, I earned a scholarship from the National University of Colombia for maintaining an outstanding GPA. Additionally, the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences recognized my efforts in entrepreneurship with the "Entrepreneurial Creativity" Merit Diploma for my role in establishing Peru's first Income Share Agreement investment fund. My professional journey began as a data analyst at Lumni, a company dedicated to funding higher education. Over time, I progressed to roles as research director and Chief Technology Officer, where I spearheaded a technological transformation that scaled the company’s reach from to students across five countries. I’m also proud to serve as a board member for a U.S-based nonprofit that develops affordable and inclusive educational funding solutions for vulnerable populations in the U.S. and Kenya. As a Ph.D. candidate at the Haskayne School of Business, I focus on analyzing the blockchain ecosystem. Over the past three years, I’ve co-authored two papers exploring value transfer processes across blockchains and their integration with the traditional financial sector.
