About Jaime Deer

I have been a police officer at the King County Sheriff's Office for 26 years and a patrol sergeant for 4 years, where I lead and mentor patrol officers and respond to emergency situations. I am also a subject matter expert for the Department of Justice's Community Relations Service, where I teach a course on engaging and building relationships with the transgender community. This course aims to enhance the safety and professionalism of law enforcement and public safety personnel, and to foster mutual respect and understanding between them and the transgender community. As a law enforcement trainer, I have over 22 years of experience in teaching various topics, such as defensive tactics, field training, and patrol procedures. I also instruct Transgender Awareness for Law Enforcement and Public Safety, a course that educates officers on the best practices and policies for interacting with transgender individuals and communities. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and skills with others, and I strive to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment for my students. My core competencies include teaching, public speaking, and supervision. My mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of the people I serve and protect.
