About Jaime Hoff

I would describe myself as a born educator. I love to learn new things and I am skilled at effectively sharing my knowledge with others. I began my career in the classroom as an elementary and middle school teacher. Most recently I have been a drug prevention educator. In that role, I taught student K-12 as well as some college and community presentations. I spent a great deal of my time with teens and young adults and not only enjoyed it, I thrived. I pride myself in being flexible and adaptive to all audiences and situations. In addition to training, I worked with coalitions around the area, wrote curriculum, and developed trainings for staff and students on how to teach new programs. If you are looking for a person that can handle presentations to large groups, groups that may be reluctantly attending, and who has excellent public speaking skills, you have found your person. There aren't many things more challenging than trying to convince a room of 30 teens that there may be some side effects to cannabis that could be really harmful to their brains. That was a conversation I had at least six times a month for nearly nine years with a lot of success based on their survey responses. My teaching style has been described as dynamic, engaging, and easy going. I make a point to establish a welcoming atmosphere in all of my classrooms, whether in person on online. When writing, I focus on creating presentations that are engaging as well as informative. I excel at writing detailed notes so that anyone could use the same presentation I've created and feel successful. Also, I can inject my own personality and humor while still getting the point across, or if needed, can remove my personality and write in a more neutral informative voice. Working with teens and young adults is a point of pride for me as I feel it really highlights my ability to be flexible with my audience and utilized my ability to mentor others. In training them to be successful self-advocates, I became a better advocate myself. We talked about how to have challenging conversations and had challenging conversations. I've been told that because I accepted them as they were, they felt safe expressing themselves and their personalities. If I never accomplish anything else in my career, that feedback will always be what I can hang my hat on and feel like I made a difference. Can someone whose primary experience is presenting to youth be the right person to present to adults? Absolutely! Am I that person for you?
