About Jaime Lumsden

Jaime is an autistic lawyer and a leading Australian expert on the application of the financial services and consumer credit regulatory regime. She is a Band 4 Ranked Lawyer in the 2022 Chambers Asia-Pacific Guide for FSR. She delivers fearless and technically excellent advice across a range of industries, including life and general insurance, payments products, derivatives, foreign exchange, horse racing syndicates, wealth management, charitable fundraisers, business and consumer credit, but now pay later, and cryptocurrency. She has been instrumental in the product design and structuring of several buy now pay later and cryptocurrency products to minimise or scale regulation in order to viably compete with incumbents and to speed up launch dates. Jaime is well known for her ability to quickly drill down to the core of a matter and to apply her detailed knowledge of the financial services and credit regulatory regimes to find commercial and practical solutions for her clients. The majority of her work involves developing novel solutions for innovative clients who need a flexible and creative approach to emerging problems in the fintech space. Jaime also supervises AFS and credit licensing, and has assisted 600+ businesses with AFS and credit licence applications, variations, Responsible Manager changes and key person condition removals. Jaime is a key contributor to industry consultation and legislative change. Most recently she was called to testify in the Senate Economics Legislation Committee's review into the Digital Assets (Market Regulation) Bill 2023.
