About Jaimin Patel

My name is Jaimin Patel. I have had the privilege of crossing paths with people from many walks of life. Through these interactions and relationships, I have come to realize just how much people are able to learn from each other by simply engaging in conversation and spending time with one another. I believe everyone should have the opportunity to do so. Unfortunately, disease has the potential to rob people of this opportunity and other integral aspects of their lives, including the ability to live itself. My intention in pursuing a career in medicine is to use my capabilities to restore a sense of normalcy in the lives of people who face disease. As an aspiring physician-scientist, I intend to both personally guide patients on this journey and develop novel methods for doctors to more effectively accomplish this undertaking. Specifically, I am interested in treating and developing novel treatment modalities for patients who suffer from neurological conditions. My research experience has primarily been in the field of cellular and molecular neuroscience. Though my research thus far has been performed in a laboratory context, I consistently attempt to think about the implications of my work in elucidating disease pathology and improving human health. I often think about how to leverage the results of my research to design novel therapeutics. I hope to have the opportunity to utilize this thought process in performing translational research throughout my career in medicine.
