About Jake Ferrell
I am a carbon removal policy specialist with particular interest in community benefits frameworks, public ownership models, and climate and environmental justice. Most recently, I researched frameworks for delivering benefits to local communities that may host climate- and energy-related infrastructure for WRI's US Climate team. Prior to WRI, I was a fellow examining the intersections of carbon removal and environmental justice at the National Wildlife Federation. I am a Junior Non-Resident Research Fellow at the Institute for Responsible Carbon Removal, where I also led the inaugural cohort of CDR Justice Fellows. Additionally, I am a research assistant for a book on the role of CDR and the pursuit of climate justice in a world of temperature overshoot. I have an M.S. in Human Ecology: Culture, Power & Sustainability from Lund University in Sweden and a B.S. in History & International Development from Ohio State University in my home state.
