About Jake Grout-Smith

A monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) specialist with over a decade of experience in social change programmes in the UK and internationally. Having worked implementing programmes on the ground, as a MEL consultant and researcher, and as MEL lead in Comic Relief, I have experienced MEL from all perspectives and have a central focus on developing MEL systems and processes that are appropriate, relevant and proportionate. Most of all my aim is to support actionable and relevant learning to improve social change approaches. I am skilled in supporting and implementing MEL for small community organisations to multi-million pound portfolios of grants, utilising a wide array of methodologies that suit the questions being asked and learning interests, and have expertise in collective learning approaches. I have particular thematic specialisms in gender and education, but have experience across a wide range of other areas, as well as project management, line management and strategic leadership.
