About Jake Iverson

I’m a very proficient writer, and I’ve worked hard to develop and maintain those skills. In college I majored in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing, in which I achieved a BA and graduated with high honors. At school, I spent two years working at the Montana Kaimin, the University of Montana’s newspaper. I wrote opinion columns and more standard journalistic fair, all while running our social media presence and maintaining our online voice. Because of this, I’m experienced in covering a college student body and working with administrative officials. From May 2019 - March 2020, I worked the Bozeman Daily Chronicle, writing critical opinion pieces on music, movies and other art. I was let go this spring due to COVID related budget cuts (the whole paper was basically cut in half, yet another tragic loss of journalism on a local level). In the year I was there, I never once missed a deadline, so I have an ability to work within an allotted timeframe. Writing creatively and personably, while on schedule, is one of my greatest strengths. I also have a proficiency in AP Style and writing for publication. In my time, I’ve written in myriads of different formats and styles. More formal, academic stuff for sure, but also lots of forms geared more towards publication, with proficiency in opinion and objective reporting, both in short and longform. I also know how to market my work to a specific audience.
