About Jake Lynch

Journalist, academic and writer Professor Jake Lynch is a respected figure within peace journalism and human rights research. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Sydney. In 2020, he took a secondment as a Leverhulme Visiting Professor at Coventry University’s Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations. Professor Jake Lynch is a member of TRANSCEND Media, for whom he writes a regular column on politics and world affairs. In 2019, Professor Lynch published Blood on the Stone, a historical mystery thriller and his debut novel. Visiting fellowships with the universities of Cardiff, Bristol and Johannesburg have formed a key part of Professor Jake Lynch’s academic career. Outside of the universities, Professor Lynch has built his livelihood around peace journalism – in both written and broadcast formats – and human rights. In 1988, Professor Jake Lynch graduated from Cardiff University with a First-Class Honours degree in English, before moving on to study a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism Studies in 1989. After graduating with a distinction Professor Jake Lynch went on to work as a journalist, including The Independent, ITV (Yorkshire-Tyne Tees), Sky News and BBC News. In 2017, Professor Jake Lynch was awarded the Luxembourg Peace Prize for his pioneering work in the field of peace journalism. Outside of his career, Professor Jake Lynch loves to travel and has visited 50 different countries. He also likes to barbecue, read historical fiction, and attend Liverpool F.C. football matches at Anfield.
