About Jake Mallard

Jake Mallard is a leading agriculture agent for row crop producers in Madison County. Jake is recognized as having technical expertise which translates into huge economic impacts for his area producers. He is the 2014 Achievement Award winner for Excellence in Extension Service Educational Programs for the National Association of County Agriculture Agents and the 2014 Achievement Award winner for the Tennessee Association Agriculture Agents and Specialists. While adult agriculture is the primary focus of his current position, he is a favorite presenter for county extension agents, row crop producers, livestock producers, forage producers, 4-H clubs, and civic clubs. Making himself accessible for these types of engagements promotes community involvement for the University of Tennessee Extension-Madison County. The Jackson Sun, Milan Mirror, local area newspapers, and WBBJ and other local television station utilize Jake’s skills for agriculture and horticulture issues for the promotion of agriculture awareness in the Western Region. Jake has been working with private companies on variety, trait and technology testing for the last 9 years and has been doing university plots and variety testing for the past 11 years. Jake was born and raised in Milan, Tennessee and attended Jackson State Community College studying precision agriculture. He transferred to the University of Tennessee at Martin to continue his education in agriculture receiving a BS in Agriculture Science. Upon graduation he started working for the University of Tennessee Extension in Gibson County in 2006. In 2009, he graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin with his MS in Agriculture Operation Management. Currently he is working as the Agriculture Extension Agent in Madison County.
