Background
About Jake Moesta
I design and build equipment and fixtures to better suit our fabrication floor. I also trouble shoot our equipment from welding machine to CNC profilers to carry out the repairs with less down time. I was the manager of just the vessel shop where with process flow changes and technique change we brought a shop that wasn’t making money to if you outsource you loss on average 15% to 25% this was accomplished in three years and has maintained. In that same time period we also installed a growing line for large storage vessels with a capacity of 16’ diameter 100’ length an the ability to hold up to 150 ton. We also started to introduce more of the production equipment side of the oil and gas world. In current state as Sr manager over fabrication I have the responsibility of running the vessels, skids, structures, metal process shop, and pipe. The pipe shop has exceeded my expectations once we had changes of the leadership on the floor and process floor changes. After a short five months we started cutting hours on average of 50 to 80 hrs a job and dropped duration almost in half which has put us at anywhere’s for 40% to 60% loss if pipe is outsourced. My next challenge is skids which I’m excited about with changes in weld process my expectation is to be at a 15% loss if units are outsourced. More to come on that. I have also developed a single power source welding station that can GMAW, FCAW, SAW off a single power source without any shut down time changing through processes all on a 55amp circuit. This process is expected to stop the bottleneck at the subarc and cut duration down by two days. We also successfully implement phase array process in vessel which has been a tremendous help. It takes a team to have success. Everything must work as a fine oiled machine and each of us are teeth on a gear. If one fails we all fail. I have surrounded myself around great people with the same drive as myself. For them I am forever grateful.
