About Jake Smail

Hello! I am a manufacturing engineer for Philips Medical Devices. I have had a diverse career working on both the operations side of the business and product development. As a manufacturing engineer in the last several years, I have demonstrated the ability to improve line yields, balance assembly lines, and reduce waste. Prior to this I was a New Product Development engineer for 10 years with a focus on design for six sigma principles. I am capable of working effectively autonomously as a self-starter. However, I always value collaboration with others on large teams, and my colleagues know I am very amicable. I enjoy cultivating relationships with coworkers, suppliers, customers and everyone with whom I interact. I have a passion for lifelong learning. From 2008 – 2014, I attended the University of Colorado part time, obtaining an Master of Engineering in Systems Engineering in 2010 and a Master of Business Administration with emphasis in Finance and Marketing in 2014. One of the main focal points of my graduate studies was translating customer requirements into tangible product requirements, and I would like to make this an emphasis and apply it to my career in the future.
