About Jake Spencer

Attained my Victorian Certificate of Education at Lyndhurst Secondary College. Upon completion of my VCE, I drove a career within Woolworths and became a Duty Manager at aged 19. Through company ran certified courses, upskilling from senior leadership, and repetitive opportunities for personal development via secondments. I was appointed Produce Manager not long after. In late 2016 I decided to step down from management and shift my focus to tertiary studies in Emergency Healthcare. I attended Victoria University where I obtained my Diploma in Paramedical Science and progressed onto my Bachelor Degree where I then graduated in 2020. Throughout my studies, I have gained employment as a disability support worker which has enabled me to utilise my skills I have developed through retail experience and my studies to apply optimal patient care to individuals with complex needs. I have also been able to practice similar skills in my Contact Tracing role with the Department of health to combat the spread of Covid-19. In 2021 I successfully gained employment as a Graduate Ambulance Paramedic with Ambulance Victoria where I completed my GAP year at a rural branch within the Hume region. After my 12 month stint in the Hume region completing my GAP year I obtained my Authority to Practice and was then allocated to the Gippsland region to practice as a Advance life Support Paramedic. My plan within ambulance Victoria over the next 12 months is to become comfortable applying AV CPG’s to a diverse range of patient presentation and to further develop my technical and non-technical skill sets. My educational goals is to undertake studies in mental health which I can utilise personally throughout my career whilst supporting colleagues around me. I endeavour to Lead a Branch within Ambulance Victoria and promote mental health amongst the team to support, develop and promote a healthy career amongst all crew members. Outside of career progression and education my hobies include socialising with friends and family, exercises at the gym, playing and spectating sport, listening and playing music and going for walks with my Golden Retriever Murphy.
