About Jake Taylor

I love talking, just not about myself. So, here’s a few quick things about me. In, out, nobody gets hurt. I was born in Saint Louis and grew up in Kansas City, went to school in Wichita (Friends University) where I played safety on the football team. I love all things sports, especially the Chiefs. I also coach my 8-year-old son in each sport he wants to try, even if I must read “Soccer for Dummies” just to be able to coach it. Growing up, I was obsessed with being the best at everything I did. I mean I wouldn’t go do something until I could practice and be perfect at it. Now when I was younger, this came off as too competitive and a little crazy. However, now it helps me be overly prepared for anything a client could throw my way. I was voted “most talkative” in my graduating class at Bishop Miege High School, and I have kept that going now in my career, although now it is much less disruptive, and used for good to develop myself into being a truly excellent communicator. I started my career in retail and enjoyed it! Which is odd because I also hated it. I finally realized what I enjoyed about it was the people I got to interact with. I was able to find my true calling in being a relationship manager and still being able to have those interactions with people while also truly making a difference in their lives. My friends would describe me as likeable and funny. But they’re already my friends so I wouldn’t expect them to say anything else. Strangers would describe me as approachable and likeable. At least I think that’s what they’d say. I don’t like to advertise this, but I have made some dumb financial mistakes in my years. I believe this gives me a unique perspective for my clients because I not only understand your financial hardships, but I have been there myself in some ways. That has truly developed a passion for finance with a “don’t do what I did” mindset that I can hopefully help other people avoid the mistakes that I made.
