About James A. Grange

I currently serve as Director, Legal Affairs & Assistant Corporate Secretary at First West Credit Union. In this role, I provide strategic legal and governance support across the organization. My responsibilities include advising on corporate governance practices, supporting the Board of Directors and its committees, and overseeing the preparation of governance materials, regulatory filings, and board policies. As Assistant Corporate Secretary, I help ensure the effective functioning of the Board by coordinating meetings, maintaining corporate records, and facilitating compliance with governance frameworks. In addition to governance, I provide legal counsel on a broad range of matters including contracts, regulatory compliance, litigation, and general corporate affairs, working closely with business units to align legal strategy with organizational objectives. I also teach Criminology at Kwantlen Polytechnic University and the Justice Institute of British Columbia, where I deliver courses such as Introduction to Criminal Law, Introduction to the Criminal Justice System, Canadian Legal Systems, and Criminal Law & Investigations. Previously, I served as Board Chair and now continue as Past Chair of the Kwantlen Polytechnic University Alumni Association, supporting alumni engagement and institutional advancement.
