About James A Smith
In December, 2014 I completed my required 116 credits coursework at Capella University and over the holidays my Colloquium Track 3 (last residency) in Orlando, FL. This qualifies me for my CAGS (Completion of Advanced Graduate Studies). I completed my Comprehensive Exam June 2015, and will begin my dissertation phase next quarter. I expect to be awarded my PhD in Public Safety Leadership with specialization in Emergency Management in about a year. In August, 2014, I also completed Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Certification for Multi-Hazard Emergency Planning for Schools and Train-the-Trainer Multi-Hazard Emergency Planning for Schools that allows me to train others to the FEMA Certification level. This program will get our nations schools to meet standardized federal guidelines for emergency preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery to protect our most precious assets; our children. I hope to start training school leaders and staff on these new guidelines soon.
