Hi my name is James Akers, I am currently the construction supervisor for Centerpoint Energy’s Greenfield operating center which is over McCordsville, New Palestine, Fortville, Greenfield, Rushville, Knightstown and Cambridge City, Indiana. My career began in the in the United States Marine Corps where I served for 10 years. I spent 5 years on active duty, and 5 years with the reserves. I then moved on to CSX as a journeyman mechanic, filling a role as a craft supervisor running the locomotive repair shop, and service center. I have since moved on to the gas industry. I first got into the industry by going to NACE for CP1 and am now an Operations Supervisor for Vectren a Centerpoint Energy co. I am In charge of 10 direct reports. Currently charged with the service and compliance for my operating arena with more than metered customers, 90 regulator stations and 150 critical valves. I am only able to accomplish my mission by working closely with my partner to utilize his additional 10 employees and Miller Pipeline crews.
