About James Andrew Mitchell

I am passionate about design, Whether it be flooring or architectural lines of a building, design surrounds us in every way shape and form. I was very fortunate to grow up in a Mid Century home full of period details and a large patio overlooking a lake. This was where I was allowed to explore my love for interior design at a very young age. I was encouraged to arrange the 8 sofas and 16 arm chairs to my liking. Once I was satisfied, my work was inspected by the notoriously hard to please grandmother. She would say "Yay, or Nay" and the process started all over again. It's one of the most fondest memories I have of her and I.This has shaped my view of the world ever since I was a child and it's what molded my future goals. At my time in the Interior Design department of El Centro College in Dallas TX, I found I excelled in color selection, AutoCAD and space planning came to me second nature. During my sophomore year, I was elected secretary of the student chapter of A.S.I.D and it was at this time I knew I was on the right path for me. More recently I have been studying Revit and new building materials. Its the only way to stay up to date on the latest trends in our fast paced world we all live in, post Covid. With great design it's not only in the way it looks but how durable is it, How does it makes you feel, and what purpose does it serve? Are these materials Eco-friendly and what does their manufacturing do to the environment? Green and sustainable design and materials are the future, and I am looking forward to a time when they become the norm. But until then I am happy to pass my passion and enthusiasm on with every project I work on.
