About James Axe

I am a Junior at Drake University studying actuarial science and data analytics. In my free time, I serve as the external Co-President for the Chi Chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma, where I utilize my communication and management skills to help mitigate chapter risks, manage chapter operations, and help our members achieve their goals. I have passed Exam FM, Exam P, Exam SRM, and Exam FAM. I’m hoping to achieve a fellowship with the Society of Actuaries. As an aspiring actuary, my path is paved by the values that are most important to me. Some values that mean the most to me are stability, high quality of work, loyalty, friendship, and family. Creating an environment for others and myself to prosper while ensuring the success of the company is something that I strive for. My journey at Drake University, along with the problem-solving skills and analytical mindset developed from my actuarial work, has helped me develop the ability to produce work of the highest quality while still being efficient. As an experienced collaborator, the relationships I build are extremely important to me. Being able to work with and trust colleagues and clients is of the utmost importance for ensuring quality work. Relationships allow for effective communication, which in turn generates a better product. Effective communication also allows me to better tailor the product for everyone involved. My ability to build trust with companies and use my skills in data analytics allows me to deliver solutions that help mitigate the risks of the company, ensuring financial growth.
