About James Ball

James is a lawyer called to the British Columbia bar and a Canadian Airline Transport Pilot Licensed pilot. Currently a Boeing 737 First Officer with WestJet, James previously flew the de Havilland Canada Dash 8-400 (formerly Bombardier Q400) with WestJet Encore, the Beech 1900 with Pacific Coastal Airlines, and air ambulance (Cessna C441 Conquest II) and charter (Cessna C206 and C207) aircraft in Northern Manitoba and Nunavut. Called to the British Columbia bar in 2010, James has acted for insurers, airlines, operators and pilots. He has appeared in the Small Claims Courts of British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and Nova Scotia, the Supreme Court of British Columbia, the Tax Court of Canada and the Worker's Compensation Appeal Tribunal. He has also assisted clients in various administrative forums including Transport Canada enforcement proceedings, the Canadian Human Rights Commission and WorksafeBC. In addition to authoring the book "So, You Want to be a Pilot, Eh?", James has written numerous articles for aviation magazines and has presented on various aviation law topics. In 2014, James was named one of Aviation's Top 20 Under 40 by Wings and Helicopters Magazine.
