Background

About James Berghout

Behavioral economics and psychology have been interests of mine ever since I read "Freakonomics" in high school. The creative research questions and methods in that book were a brilliant way to get me to think outside the box, and so I pursued my degree in Economics. I started school at Utah State in the spring semester of 2021. Studying there has given me an even deeper knowledge of economics and helped me realize my love for writing. For a time, when classes were online, I took several writing courses and enjoyed the feedback I received from my peers. It was also a good experience for me to learn how to connect and communicate with people, all be it through online classes and meetings. While going to school, I conducted research for the electric vehicle market which was an excellent way for me to learn scientific writing and market analysis. Through my work at ASPIRE I also learned what goes into charging, manufacturing, and adopting electric vehicles. As I continue my career, I plan to further explore my own questions about human behavior and the world around us, all in the hope of maximizing human utility (happiness).
