About James Berry

I am a full-time University of Melbourne student undertaking my second year of a Bachelor of Commerce with an Actuarial Major. All subjects to date have seen very strong results, with all completed to an honours standard. Particular success has been seen in mathematic subjects such as Linear Algebra and Calculus 2. To further involve myself within the strong community at the University of Melbourne I have been a member of the Commerce Students' Society (CSS), Actuarial Students' Society (ASS), the Quantitative Trading Society (QTS) and the Melbourne University Mathematics and Statistics Society (MUMS). In addition to the above, I was selected for the Melbourne University Elite Athlete Program for my national experience in sport. Alongside my studies, I work for Australia’s fastest growing ceiling fan and ventilation specialists as a showroom consultant. In this role I have provided support via phone, online chat and in person, leading to high proficiency in Salesforce and MYOB. Alongside this I have facilitated returns and worked in warranty, leading to advanced skills in client communication and group collaboration, working to ensure swift and effective service when dealing with clients. In this role I have received various recognition awards, both for continuing success in workplace competitions and for advanced analysis on projects around delivery cost and its variance. My various work accolades speak for themselves, demonstrating my intrinsic ability to work hard and provide unparalleled attention to detail no matter the task. Forbye to my work and schooling, I have various experiences in national and state rowing which has left the principle understanding of the physiological and physical importance of sport when balancing a busy schedule. Currently, I spend much of my personal time working towards various fitness goals with friends and family while working to grow my own financial portfolio in the stock market through the ASX, FTSE and NYSE. I am always up for the chance to connect or converse so feel free to reach out at any time convenient. I believe that through mentoring and the fostering of new connections, we are enabled to become the greatest version of ourselves. This is something I learnt through my time as a volunteer tutor and as and OAP leader where I was given the unique chance to motivate and inspire year 7 students through both their studies and during weekly expeditions through the Great Otway National Park. Going forward I would embrace the opportunity of being mentored due to its glowing benefits for all parties.
