About James Bogen

I am an attorney in solo practice in Cincinnati. I concentrate my practice in the areas of criminal defense at both the state and federal level, DUI defense, and juvenile crime. I have defended cases ranging from low-level misdemeanors to the most serious felonies, including capital murder and other homicides, sex offenses, robberies, and kidnappings, and I have also served as Special Counsel for Hamilton County. I am certified by the Ohio Supreme Court to represent defendants in death penalty cases, and I am also certified in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (the roadside tests that police officers administer for DUI cases). In 2008, I completed the Cincinnati Academy of Leadership for Lawyers (CALL) Program through the Cincinnati Bar Association in my first year of eligibility. I currently serve on three committees for the Cincinnati Bar Association. I am a member of the Professionalism Committee and the Health and Well-Being Committee, I was also Chair for the Lawyer Referral Service Board Advisory Committee, and I continue to serve on this committee as a member. I also provide legal instruction in Ohio Concealed Carry Training classes, and I am a New Lawyer Mentor through the Ohio Supreme Court. Prior to opening my own law practice in October 2003, I was an associate for the law firm Delev & Williams. I graduated from the University of Cincinnati Law School in 2002, and I was admitted to the Ohio bar the same year. In 2003, I was admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. I also attended the University of Cincinnati for my undergraduate work, during which time I earned multiple academic honors while I was a 4-year letterwinner for the varsity swim team.
