About James Brogan

James Brogan, AIA RIBA NCARB CIO/Principal James is Chief Information Officer and Principal at Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, where for two decades has led the digital advancement of KPF’s global practice. As CIO, James oversees KPF's global technology agenda, which is constantly evolving given the scale, complexity, and velocity of major, often disruptive shifts taking place across the architecture, engineering, and construction ecosystem such as a deeper reliance on data analytics, information management, Computation + BIM modeling, AI/ML, visualization, immersive technologies, and real-time global collaboration. As a licensed architect and industry leader, James has focused on envisioning and integrating innovative digital solutions across the practice of architectural design and delivery. James and his team have leveraged four key internal disciplines of expertise - Digital Practice, Applied Research and Data Science along with the strategic Infrastructure and Operations required to deliver cutting-edge capabilities to run a global, highly integrated, digitally-focused business. Several examples include- Client-specific computationally-driven design and documentation tools and workflows - Immersive experiences through VR/AR/XR which aid in developing and presenting design concepts and options - Proprietary data and knowledge solutions - Business intelligence / AI tools with project-specific dashboards utilizing machine-learning driven design automation - A robust, global cloud-first compute and data ecosystem James advises and partners closely with KPF's client and consultant teams comprised of architects, engineers, and client stakeholders to leverage best-of-class, transformative digital solutions to foster the highest quality architectural design in service of KPF’s client ambitions. James also partners externally with KPF clients and their distributed consultant teams, strategic technology providers, as well as non-industry leaders to ensure KPF maintains broad, effective digital delivery strategies to support successful business outcomes for clients such as Google San Jose, Changi Airport in Singapore, and Related Companies in New York. James attended Pratt Institute and the Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business Executive Program and has taught in the Master of Architecture program at New York’s Parsons The New School for Design. James has authored several book chapters and publication articles, and speaks at significant conferences, symposia, and workshops globally.
