Patients alive and well. 1st use of POLYIMIDE in Total Hip replacement. Series of 100 patients. Longest use 17 yrs and no signs of wear. A new bio-material for articulations and can be sterilised by all modalities. Award New Zealand Orthopaedic Association Presidents Award 2016 for services to orthopaedics in NZ. Devices The Hip Calibration Gauge: to set up leg length, off-set, acetabular ante-version and inclination. Essential for any hip arthroplasty surgeon and must be used in conjunction with specific radiographic orthogonal AP and Direct lateral views of the hip. The Stardrill: for hip capsule repair ( Post Approach, 1500 consecutive cases, no dislocations) Personal priority to orthopaedic surgery Surgery should be planned, done with precision understanding the bio-engineering requirements, to get the best possible results. Longer follow up is essential to confirm outcome and avoid recurring poor surgical practice. The patient outcome is the priority, not pecuniary gain! Do once, and do it correctly!
